Getting Here
Somerville Station is one block from downtown on NJ Transit’s Raritan Valley Line. Drivers can reach the borough from Routes 22, 28, 202 and 206 and nearby I-287 and I-78.
Parking Downtown
Downtown offers metered on-street spaces and several municipal parking lots. The Downtown Somerville Alliance currently recommends municipal lots for longer visits and notes that parking is free on Sundays. Always follow current posted signs and pay-station instructions.
Lodging
Somerville itself has a limited hotel inventory compared with nearby Bridgewater. The broader area has many hotels along Routes 22, 202/206 and I-287, but NJTGO keeps those outside properties labeled by their actual municipality rather than calling them Somerville hotels.
Visitor Tips
- For a first visit, park once and explore Main Street and Division Street on foot.
- Restaurant reservations can be useful on weekend evenings and major event days.
- Check the Downtown Somerville event calendar before visiting; street closures can affect driving and parking.
- Somerville Station is especially convenient for visitors headed directly downtown.
- The library branch at 35 West End Avenue is currently closed while relocation plans move forward.
